Pitstop!

April 5th, 2008 Bernice Posted in Cell Group, Just for Fun, Youth Events No Comments »

After so long, I was able to get my password back from wordpress. Geez’ums, wordpress is demanding.

Okay, I’m here to blog about Cell 2(and ZM)’s trip to Pitstop before Christon kills me for more late work. Hehe. I don’t have all the pictures yet, but I’ll post the best ones as soon as I get my hands on them.

On the third of April, that’s Thursday, Cell 2 met up for one of the coolest cell outings ever. A few of us had a bit of trouble getting there dry and on time. It was raining and it was a weekday after all. However, none of us got lost and we all got there at around 7 eventually, which is actually saying something because for once nobody was more than an hour’s late.

Well. The narrow staircase looked like you were about to ascend into some strange little store room with lots of mice and enough space for you to put your toe into one of the mouse-traps, then make yourself go deaf by screaming too loudly in an enclosed space, but then like magic, the room the door opened into was large, airy, and pretty. I told you it was magic.

I think the walls were red, but then you couldn’t really tell anyway, because whatever wall space they had was plastered over with layers of memories and notes in the form of permanent marker and photographs. And they had this giant shelf in the corner full of ubercool obscure boardgames that made me drool.

The games we played in order were.. Okay fine, actually I hardly remember the title of the games itself. The first game was something to do with dinosaurs and cards. And that’s where my memory goes haywire, because that’s when the food comes in. I bet none of you can remember either. Anyway, in the end we made a lot noise playing some hybrid-type game that was a cross between heart attack and cards; another that required us to use both our left brains and our right brains (and we all know who rocks best at that, don’t we?); and one that made us do animal sounds.

Beep beep!

Where else can you play board games, scream, eat, and be cool all at the same time?

Cell 4 Super Rox Source outing

April 2nd, 2008 tricia Posted in Cell Group 1 Comment »

Alright :)

Cell 4 went out to chill and bond last Sunday at raffles place pitstop cafe. Although there were only 6 of us but we enjoyed ourselves. Or at least i did. Feels great that my cell is opening up towards each other. Sharing our struggles and supporting each other. Being a listening ear or be of help in any way possible towards each other!

Thats what a cell is for. Accepting us for who we are, Developing us to what God wants us to be, Supporting each other in times of trials and Celebrating with us our victories.
Its always my prayer that cell 4 would truely model the Acts 2 community one day. That we’ll be so willing to be there to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to lend on in times of need :) AWWW… how sweet right peepz?

Anyway, back to the outing. Activity wise, it’s all fun and laughter. In the short span of 2hrs we played with about 6-7 different boardgames at pitstop cafe. Ate quite alot of food (as usual, with joyce, mandy and clarence around)… hehe! Opps hope i din offend anyone… Don’t take it too personally okay?

Hehe… After about 2 hrs or so of games we went to Funan to grab some computer stuff for our dearest pastor Johnny as well as for ourselves, then off the Pastamania for a dinner!

We talked and shared randomly but its times like this that we bond and get to know each other better. The way we relate, our likes and dislikes. Hope that we can hang out more! Have fun as well as emotionally connect and really love and care for each other. Because thats what cells are for :D

Hehe… Not forgetting we left memories at the walls of pitstop cafe. Look at the attached picture.

Hey peeps you got to click on the picture to see the full one. I don’t know how to compress it :( sorry!Cell 4 - Pitstop Cafe and enjoy!

Cell 2 bowling

April 2nd, 2008 Ashre Posted in Cell Group No Comments »

On the 21st of March, which was on Good Friday, cell 2 headed to Home team NS at Bukit Gombak for bowling! yay

We headed to the bowling alley in a somewhat excited mood, only to find out that the only few remaining bowling lanes available were already booked by other people for a sort of competition. Apparently, “none of us” thought that the bowling alley would be full on a public holiday, thus, no booking whatsoever was made…

However, that still didn’t dampen our spirits as we were told by someone, I forgot who, that there was another bowling alley located nearby, which was at CSC, Bukit Batok.

Most of us were pretty sure it would be likewise full, but unlike Starbowl, the bowling alley at Bukit Gombak, we didn’t have any number to call up to book lanes or anything. But since we had nothing to lose, we took a rather short direct bus ride to the place.

We arrived there, hoping to be able to bowl, but sad to say, it was full as well. However, unlike the alley at Home Team NS, we just needed to wait another 30 mins to be given a lane. With the spare time, we headed down to play some games in the club’s small arcade. I won’t elaborate on the time spent there since it isn’t reaally the main point, though we had fun there.

Anyway, 30 mins passed in practically no time at all. We finally, got our lane and the first group started to bowl. Since there was not much excitement in watching the ball go into the drain consecutively, some of the group decided to go watch the nearby TV instead.

Before long, the second group’s turn came, and though the ball went into the drain most of the time, like the first group, everyone still had fun. Before long, Christon and Bobo had to leave, due to reasons that escapes me.

Finally, our third and last game came and finally, some of us got strikes and spares. For some of us, the earlier games seemed like practice. However, the main fun didn’t seem to come from the bowling itself, but from the fun we had while sitting around the computer scoring systems. We had loads of fun changing each other’s names on the scoreboard(Sounds a bit silly), and posing for pictures. Luckily, the bowling alley was pretty noisy, so the amount of noise our group made didn’t seem to have much of an effect on the others.

But before long, the time we spent there seemed to have flew by. Thank the lord for granting us with a bowling lane, especially on a public holiday. Even cell members like Richard(probably his first cell outing ever) and Mivio(who hardly ever comes for our cell events) turned up. So thank God for their appearances too.

But anyway, before I type out too much, I conclude by saying…

God bless you!

Cell 3 &4 sleepover:D

December 25th, 2007 Anthea Posted in Cell Group, Youth Events 2 Comments »

soooo, on the 22nd, saturday, cell3 and 4 had a (super fun) combined christmas sleepover at the Lee family’s house :D
most of us arrived like late afternoon/early evening with a few exceptions like tricia, truddy, yahui, pengkong. AND WE COOKED! hohoho.

it was pretty fun cooking campbell soup, frying nuggets and seaweed chicken and criss-cut fries (XD!!), toasting garlic bread, roasting the turkey, cutting kueh lapis, etc.
but some people got themselves fried by sputtering oil in the process of cooking cos they probably thought it fun to dunk nuggets into a wok full of boiling-hot oil:)

we also ordered pizza for dinner:D so yeah dinner was great (y) and i think everyone enjoyed themselves. right?

after dinner, we played a few games, namely ultimate charm, seven up, and something else i cant rmb. some individuals amazed everyone by not getting ANY forfeit! :O which is honestly quite an achievement for some:)
gift exchange was fun too, cos everyone took turns to unwrap their gifts, then guess who was the one who got it for you. and anyone who doesnt get it after 3 guesses earns him/herself the priviledge of wearing stuff like an afro-hair wig, huge ears, or a clown’s nose:)
so by the end of it many people had taken turns to look hilarious XD

anyway, after the games and stuff, everyone took turns to bathe wash up cos it was pretty late by then. and we were all lazing around/talking/playing xbox/watching stuff from laptops till everyone eventually dozed off/went to bed.
sleeping arrangements were great(y) :D the Lee family’s house is really spacious and comfy so everyone had somewhere to rest:)

kay so, the next morning we got up pretty early. and had a yummy breakfast, followed by people gradually going home.

yeppppp so thats about it for our very wonderful christmas sleepover:)

thank God for blessing the food, the fun, the people, the arrangements, so that we were all able to enjoy ourselves:D

anw, the 25th of Dec is coming to an end in approximately an hour or so, therefore enjoy whats left of this very MERRY CHRISTMAS;D
and remember to be grateful for the greatest gift of ALL TIME! :D

take careeee:)

cell 1 and 2 sleepover

December 25th, 2007 bobocydis Posted in Cell Group, Youth Events 1 Comment »

ohla greetings…

bobo here. I just posted about the cell 1 and 2 sleepover in details this afternoon but only the first 3 lines appears… man… i spent like an hour for the post and 59 mins were futile…

As i promised that i will post about the sleepover. I shall post again.

On the 22nd December 2007 cell 1 and cell 2 had a combined sleepover at Andrew’s house. Cell group members spilt up into groups from church and somehow reached Andrew’s house. When i reached his house Christon and Jereme was already there. And the food was ready. The first thing we did when we reached Andrew’s house was to set up laptops and see if the wireless connection is available. Afew of us brought laptops to play DOTA at night.

We played a game of DOTA while waiting for the rest to arrive. When most of us arrived we choing for dinner. Food were delicious. Pizza, nuggets, bee hoon and mushroon soup. We kept some food for the late comers like Joel, Maurice and Elroy. After dinner we went up stair to play some games.

The games were conducted by Mandy. In the first game we need to get into circle and hold the soft toy with your neck and pass it into the neck of people next to you.

In order to do that you need to hug the person who you are passing to. If the soft toy drop you need to start all over again. The goal of the game is to pass the toy around as fast as possible.

We were splited into 2 groups and my team played it first. There were about 10 people in my group and we took like 33 seconds to finish it. Then it was the other team’s turn. When Bernice and Min Hui tried to pass it, Brian Peters and Christon make Min Hui laugh and she dropped the toy afew times.

After lots of retry they still couldnt do it. So Min Hui went for last. Then it was turn for Mivio to pass to Nicholas. He hugged Mivio and didnt let go… haha. Then Nicholas requested for a retry. Request was granted and we can see his face lit up. And he did the same thing to Mivio again. He liked it.. haha. They couldnt finish the game.

We played the next game. It was fun but not as fun as the previous one. All of us had to sit in the circle and the player need to sit in the middle of the circle blind-folded. We had to switch places and after switching the player need to go around and tap somebody. That somebody had to make an unnatural voice and the player had to guess who he/she is.

After the game, we waited for Elroy to arrive. While waiting Mivio suggested to play “0 0 7 shoot BANG”game… i forgot how it is played but i like the name of the game. haha. When Elroy arrived we started the gift exchange programme. Some of the people left after the gift exchange as they couldnt stay for sleepover and couldnt stay out late.

After the gift exchange programme, the DOTA and movie marathon had started. The first movie we watched was hairspray.

Some of us went up to the balcony with a guitar and started singing some songs. Min Hui stepped on the chair to come up to the balcony and the chair broke… awww….

Joel Toh and Maurice came about 11pm+

There were 6 laptops and 2 PCs. We played 4v4 in DOTA. We took turns to play DOTA and man it was fun. After Hairspray we watched Transformers. DOTA and movie marathon goes on…. After Transformer Min Hui and Mandy went to sleep in Andrew’s room so minus 2 PCs. DOTA left with 3v3 and it still goes on. We watched Nemo after Transformers and Christon went to sleep under the piano…

We got so high after eating some chocolates at about 5 am. We were laughing until our stomach hurts. I feel asleep at 6am+ and woke up at 9am.

Zhen Ming and Marcus legs were drawn with highlighters by Min Hui. We packed up, washed up and cleaned up the place. After that went for Prata house for breakfast.

After the breakfast Christon gave people who live around jurong area a ride. We blast off Westlife songs and sang awfully out of tune in Christon’s van.

you can check out some of the photos in the following website

http://jurongsda.org/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=3053

that comes to end of the post and i swear that the post from the afternoon was more in detail than this post. I ‘bobo the chacha’ conclude the post by saying

ADIOS AMIGOS!! MERRY CHRISTMAS.
